KALAICHEMMAL awards are conferred on the eminent artists of Tamil Nadu in recognition of their meritorious service in the fields of Paintings and Sculpture in Traditional and Contemporary Arts.

A cash award of Rs.20,000/-each and a citation plaque are given to them. 11 eminent artists of Painting and Sculpture in the traditional field and 46 artists of Painting and Sculpture in the contemporary field have been conferred with this title so far.
