Design And Development of Biocompatible Micro/Nano Scale Materials And Study Their Colloidal Properties In Microfluidic Domain

Main objectives :

  • Synthesis and characterization of macro-nano scale particles
  • Demonstrate the significance of particle shape along with size and surface chemistry on their colloidal stability in and out-side of microfluidic domain.

What was achieved :

  • Polymeric nano-scale materials (PLGA-T20-Rhod) made of PLGA (poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)), rhodamine (Rhod) and Tween20 (T20) molecules have been synthesized using hydrodynamic flow focusing in microchannel and precipitation techniques (outside microchannel) and characterized.
  • Study and comparison of colloidal properties of PLGA-T20-Rhod with conventionally synthesized analogous fluorescent nanoparticles PLGA-T20-Rhod# has been performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of microfluidic approach towards the fabrication of robust polymeric nanoparticles with consistent shape, size and surface charge.
  • Effect of colloidal behavior on nanoparticles transport in microfluidic domain has been demonstrated to explore the possible use in biomedical imaging applications.
