Calibration of Force Proving Instrument

Research Facilities
  • It is applicable to force-proving instruments in which the force is determined by measuring the elastic deformation of a loaded member or a quantity which is proportional to it.
  • The ranges of Proving Rings calibrated are from 10KN to 2000KN.
  • The Master Proving rings of the Institute is calibrated from NPL, New Delhi

NABL Accredited Low cycle and High Cycle fatigue Testing

Research Facilities

Fatigue testing is carried out over the samples of structural steels to generate fatigue life and crack growth data, to demonstrate the safety of a structure that may be susceptible to fatigue. The capacity to perform fatigue load is upto 100KN.

Rotating Bending Fatigue Testing

Research Facilities

Rotating Bending Fatigue Testing is carried out as per BS 3518.

NABL Accredited Tensile Testing

Research Facilities

A tensile test applies tensile (pulling) force to a material and measures the specimen's response to the stress. By doing this, tensile tests determine how strong a material is and how much it can elongate. Capacity of the machine is upto 1000KN

Bend- Re Bend test

Research Facilities
  • The bend test is a simple and inexpensive qualitative test that can be used to evaluate both the ductility and soundness of a material.
  • The purpose of re-bend test is to measure the effect of strain ageing on steel.
  • Both the tests are carried over structural steel samples and reinforcement bars upto 32mm

Compression Testing

Research Facilities
  • Compression tests are used to determine a material's behavior under applied crushing loads, and are typically conducted by applying compressive pressure to a test specimen.
  • Tests are carried over bricks, paver blocks, concrete cube samples, coarse aggregates to check and certify their compressive strength values.

Wire Rope Testing

Research Facilities

Test is carried out to determine the breaking force, yield strength, elongation and modulus of elasticity of wire ropes used in mines.

Ultrasonic pulse velocity measurements (concrete)

Research Facilities

The Concrete Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity tester measures the velocity of ultrasonic pulses of longitudinal vibrations passes through concrete to determine uniformity of concrete, any changes in the properties of concrete with time and concrete quality.

Crack depth measurement in concrete structures

Research Facilities
  • The probable depth of propagation of any cracks in concrete surface are measured using UPV instruments.
  • The test results helps to access and plan the repair methodology.

Rebound hammer testing

Research Facilities

The Concrete Rebound Hammer is principally a surface hardness tester for estimating the compressive strength of in-place concrete.
