Kanja Sahib Tomb - Solingar
HISTORICAL BACKGROUNDS :
Sholingar is situated 27 km.west of Arakkonam.the route between Walaja – Arakkonam in Vellore District. In the inscription Sholingar is mention as Cholasimhapuram. Once it was called as Kadikasalam. Among the 108 Vaishna holy places Sholingapuram is one.
An inscription of Parantaka I issued in 9h regnel year (916 A.D), its found both in Sanskrit and Tamil Languages. For Perfectual tomp and patta Viruthi the grants were made. This village is also called as Kadikainadu.
The inscription of 13-06-1595 mention the place as mentioned as Chandragiri Rajiyathu Thiru Kadikai Nattu Cholingapuram Patru. Later this place was occupaid by muslims. About the war between English and muslims is engraved in an inscription found in the road side of Sholingar bus terminus.
This may be a war memorial of Mysore Soldiers. Now it is called as the tomb of Kanja Sahib. Both English and Urudu languages used for the inscriptions, with out mentioning the name of many soldiers. Those who sacrifice their their life in the war in 1781 A.D. The tomb be constructed as war memorial. The following message engraved.
THIS TOMB WHICH IS BELEIVED TO MARK SPOT WHERE THE BODIES OF THE SLAIN OF THE – MYSORE ARMY WERE INTERRED IS CONSERVED BY THE GOVT.OF INDIA TO COMMEMORATIVE THE BATTLE OF SHOLINGAR 1981.
