Development of a technology for optimal extraction of locked-up coal from underground mines using artificial pillars (DeCoalArt)

(i) Evaluation of flow characteristics of viscous semi-solid (VSS) material by computational fluid dynamics simulation.
(ii) Development of lab scale system for transporting and discharging of viscous semisolid (VSS) material for making artificial pillars.

(iii) To develop a statistical parameter for artificial pillars based on laboratory specimen for site application.
 

Designing of Beam stoppers for super FRS in FAIR Project

A large international accelerator facility – the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) - is being built at GSI (Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung), Darmstadt (Hesse), Germany. FAIR is formed by an International treaty on 4th October 2010 with an investment proposal in the order of 250 billion Euros by participating countries (http://www.fair-center.eu) and will be realized in stages.

Engineering of Disaster Mitigation and Health Monitoring for Safe and Smart Built Environment (EDMISSIBLE)

• Suitable infrastructure for real time monitoring and control of various house hold equipments, gadgets using wireless sensor network or mobile telephony or internet.
• Remote home Controller to integrate the residence's various home automation systems where the appliances and devices are receivers, and the means of controlling the system, such as remote controls or keypads, are transmitters.
• Effective energy monitoring and savings mechanism through prepaid metering with integrated remote control over electrical gadgets.

Novel Energy Effective Metallic Materials for Automative and General Engineering Application (LWM)

Development of lightweight environment friendly and energy efficient materials / processes /components with improved properties and performance to cater to sustainable growth, conservation of resources and control of environment.
The sub-objectives of the proposed work are as follows:
i. Ultra High strength aluminium alloys through severe plastic deformation such as ECAP, cryoprocessing and powder processing.
