Ferrography is a specialized type of oil analysis used to study particle wear on machine components through analysis of contaminants in lubricating oil. It can be used to predict and diagnose errors occurring on machinery. Ferrogram Maker and Wear Particle Analyzer along with accessories provide information on debris contamination in oil itself and their mechanism. The debris is segregated using magnetic field. The analysis is performed to obtain the information of wear mechanism of sliding components.
Chemisorption and physisorption capable instrument providing versatility and flexibility of analysis. Quantachrome Autosorb iQ2 Surface Area & Pore Volume Analyzer is an instrument to determine the specific surface area of powders, solids and granules through chemisorption and physisorption of various types of gases like N2, CO2, H2, water vapour etc. Pore size analysis, micropore analysis, pore size distribution can also be determined by this instrument.
The UV-Vis spectrum is due to the electronic transitions of the molecule which is characteristic of a compound. Qualitative and Quantitative estimations of a compound can be attained by this non-destructive technique. The absorbance (A) of a solution at a particular wavelength is determined by the Lambert Beer’s Law: A = εcl, where A is the absorbance of the compound, ε is the molar extinction coefficient of the compound at a particular wavelength, c is the concentration of the compound and l is the thickness of the cell. The quantitative measurements are based on this principle.
This subject equipment is a versatile, computer controlled Photoluminescence Spectrometer. It incorporates 8.3-watt, pulsed xenon for fluorescence and phosphorescence decay time measurements. The instrument works on electronic and vibrational changes of electroactive species or molecules from the ground electronic state to the excited state of higher electronic energy. The excitation is in the range of 200 – 800 nm and emission is 200 – 800 nm with zero order selectable. Standard PMT covers 200 – 650 nm; R928 or R956 PMT available for full range.
A mass spectrometer generates multiple ions from the sample under investigation; it then separates them according to their specific mass-to-charge ratio (m/z), and then records the relative abundance of each ion type. The first step in the mass spectrometric analysis of compounds is the production of gas phase ions of the compound, basically by electron ionization. This molecular ion undergoes fragmentation. Each primary product ion derived from the molecular ion, in turn, undergoes fragmentation, and so on.
The improved sensitivity, versatility and overall performance makes the Magnetic Susceptibility balance ideally suited for new analytical applications in research laboratory. The room temperature magnetic moment measurement of compounds is achieved by this instrument. This is a non-destructive technique.
