CWSS to Eraniel Town Panchayat and 319 Rural habitations and improvements to Padmanabhapuram CWSS and Kattathurai CWSS covering Padmanabhapuram Municipality, 3 Town Panchayats and 55 Rural habitations in Kanyakumari District was administratively sanctioned vide G.O Ms.No.40/ dt.21.4.2017 for Rs.174 crore and executed with the funds from NABARD, KfW and MNP

On implementation of this scheme 31.81 MLD of water to the Intermediate population (2025) of 3.10 lakh and 35.12 MLD of water to the ultimate population (2035) of 3.44 lakh will be supplied .

The per capita supply for Municipality is 135 lpcd, Town Panchayat is 90 lpcd, and 55 lpcd for Rural habitations.

In this scheme the surface water from Kuzhithuraiyar River near Attoor is being drawn by the proposed 8 m dia Off take well cum Pump house. Water is being pumped to Water Treatment Plant having the capacity of 36.88 MLD located at Kattathurai through 6.550 Km length of Raw water main. From WTP Clear water is being pumped to the newly proposed 33 Nos of sumps and 27 Nos of newly proposed Service reservoirs along with existing Service reservoirs through 495.390 km length of clear water main. From the Service reservoirs water is being distributed through a newly laid 54.147 km along with existing distribution net work

The work order for the scheme was issued on 9.5.2018. Now all works were completed and the scheme is put in to beneficial use. Now 21.60 MLD of water is being supplied to the population of 3.11 lakh.

The Scheme is ready for Hon’ble Chief Minister’s Inauguration.
