Combined Water Supply Scheme to Aruppukottai, Sattur and Virudhunagar Municipalities in Virudhunagar District With Tamiraparani river as source.

The Combined Water Supply Scheme to Aruppukottai, Sattur and Virudhunagar Municipalities in Virudhunagar District With Tamiraparani river as source was administratively sanctioned vide G.O. Ms. No. 147/ MA & WS (WS2) Dept/ dt. 13.11.2019 for Rs. 444.71 crore with IUDM and HUDCO funding.

The Intermediate (2035) and Ultimate (2050) Population for this Scheme is 2.33Lakh and 2.60 Lakh respectively. By adopting prorata Supply of 135 lpcd, the Intermediate and Ultimate requirements are 22.90MLD and 26.94 MLD respectively.

The Source for this CWSS is River Tamirabarani at Seevalaperi and the Raw Water is proposed to be collected in Collection well cum Pumphouse. It is proposed to pump raw water through Conveying main of 780m to the proposed Water Treatment Plant capacity of 24.04 mld located in the bank of Chittaru River at Seevalaperi.

The Treated water will be pumped from WTP to Sillankulam Booster Station by Pumping main for a length of 27.55km.The Water Collected in Sillankulam Booster Station will be Pumped to Vannimadai Booster Station by Pumping main for a length of 56.40km.The Water collected in Vannimadai Booster Station will be Pumped to Sennelkudi Booster Station by Pumping main for a length of 28.60km and to Sump at Sattur Municipality by Pumping main for a length of 10.92km.to the Municipal sumps through three intermediate Boosters located at Sillankulam, Vannimadai and Sennalkudi. The Water collected in Sennelkudi Sump will be Pumped to Sump at Arupukottai Municipality by Pumping main of length 17.850km and to Sump at Virudhunagar Municipality by Pumping main of length 11.070km.

From the Municipal sumps ,the water will be pumped to 22 nos of existing and 5 nos of Newly constructed OHT’s in the Municipalities through Feeder main of 23.74 km and then water will be distributed to the proposed Distribution system of 261.572 km through 78496 nos of House Sevice Connections.

Work order for this Scheme was issued on 28.09.2020 and of works are in progress. The Scheme is targeted for completion by 08/2023 and put into beneficial use.
