CWSS to 363 habitations in Thoothukudi, Ottapidaram, Kayathar, Kovilpatti, Pudur and Vilathikulam Unions in Thoothukudi District was Administratively sanctioned for Rs.515.72 Crore vide G.O. No.166 /MA & WS/dated.23.11.2022 This scheme is to be implemented under Jal Jeevan Mission funds.

The scheme has been designed for the intermediate and Ultimate population of 3.50 lakh (2039) and 3.96 lakh (2054) and designed to supply water at intermediate and ultimate stage is 13.59 MLD and 16.57 MLD.

The raw water is proposed to be drawn from a Intake well to be constructed in river Thamirabarani at Agaram village. Water will be pumped from this Intake well to treatment plant of capacity 16.57 MLD at Sethuramalingapuram through a raw water pumping main length of 5.739 km and clear water will be stored in the 7.00 LL carrying sump. From the clear water Sump, water will be pumped through a feeder main length of 20.30 km to proposed Booster Sump (3.60LL) located at Maniyachi and from Maniyachi BS, water will be pumped to Manthithoppu Standpost through a pumping main length of 39 km which serves Kovilpatti, Pudur and Vilathikulam Union part. From Manthithoppu Standpost water will be gravitated to Kulathur main sump with intermediate sumps at Ottapidaram , Kurukkusalaiand Jegaverapandiapuram. From Kulathur sump balance habitations of Vilathikulam Union will be covered. It is proposed to construct 42 nos of rural and group sumps and 60 nos of new service reservoirs (OHT) of various capacity. It is proposed to provide 92407 nos of FHTC from this scheme.

The work order issued on 31.3.2023 and works are in process . The target date for completion of the project is October 2024 and put in to beneficial use.
