CWSS for 980 Rural habitations In Nagapattinam, Thirumarugal, Kilvelur, Keelaiyur, Thalainayar and Vedaranyam Unions and 4 Town panchayats of Velankanni , Thittachery , Kilvelur and Thalainayar and Nagapattinam Municipality in Nagapattinam District was administratively sanctioned for Rs.1392.89 has been Administratively sanctioned for Rural beneficiary vide G.O.MS.No.142/dt 11.10.2022. In continuous an estimate for an amount of Rs.389.60 Crores Urban Component has been Administratively sanctioned vide G.O.MS.No.52/dt 02.05.2023. Total of the Project Cost Rs.1782.49Crores.

The scheme is to be implemented under JAL JEEVAN MISSION funds.

The population benefitted at intermediate (2039) and ultimate (2054) stage are 8.56 Lakh &9.65 Lakh respectively. The water supply requirement for intermediate stage and ultimate stage are 82.73 MLD and 93.00 MLD respectively.

For this scheme, the entire scheme was grouped into 2 SYSTEMS based on the availability of the Source and the Hours of Pumping from Head work to Group sump is 18 Hours and Group sump to OHT is8 Hours .

SYSTEM I :-

In this system have , existing 2 collector wells , the Addl source creation work collector well 2 nos , and 1 no of proposed collector wells at Mavuthiruppu totally5 nos of Collector well met the requirement of 46.93 MLD , from 5 Collector wells the total water collected at Common collection sump 26.40 LL at Ammaiyappan. From AmmaiyappanCS the water pumped to Thirumarugal Booster station25.60 LL capacity sump. From Thirumarugal one Pumpingmain covers way side panchayats , Thittachery Town panchayat and Nagapattinam Municipal (part -17.54MLD) sump at Velipalayam 2.80 LL and then pumped to Akkarapettai 1.00 LL GS .

A Second Pumping main from Thirumarugal BS to Orathur 8.0 LL BS and then Prathramapuram 4.70 LL BS ,again pumping to Avarikaru 70000 litGS .

SYSTEM– II:-

In this system 4 nos of New collector well proposed to met out 46.07 MLD ( Total Requirement is 93.00 MLD for both system). The proposed collector well at 1.Sarukkai, 2.Verramangudi 3.Thoothur4.Vazhkai of Thanjavur district and pumped to common collection sump of 25.60 LL capacity atVazhkai. From Vazhkai CS pumped to Kottarakudi25.40 LL BS through 1067 mm dia MS pumping main for a length of 68.00 Km.

In this scheme Proposed to construct various sizes of Sumps – 172 nos and 409 nos of OHT, 134 nos of Pump Room etc., and the total Pipe line using for Pumping main and Feedermain thro various sizes of MS , DI, HDPE and OPVC pipe for a lengthof 1730.756 Km.

The work was split into four packages and work orders were issued on 31.03.2023 (package-I) and 24.04.2023 (Package –II,III & IV) works are under progress. The scheme is targeted for completion by October /2024 at put in to beneficial use.
