The scheme for providing CWSS to 67 Rural Habitations in Kumbakonam, Thirupanandal and Thiruvidaimarudur Unions and 2 Hamlets of Town Panchayats in Thanjavur District with kollidam River as source was administratively sanctioned for Rs. 117.09 crore vide G.O.(Ms).No.201 Dated-30.11.2020. under Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme.

The population at Intermediate (2037), and ultimate (2052) stages are 91,276 and 1,02,104 respectively. Adopting a prorata supply of 55 lpcd for rural habitations and 70 lpcd for Town panchayat habitations water supply requirement will be 5.37 MLD for intermediate stage and 5.97 MLD for ultimate stage.

In this scheme water is drawn from 8 Nos. of Infiltration Wells proposed to be constructed in the River kollidam near Kudithangi Village of Kumbakonam Union in Thanjavur District. The water from the infiltration wells will be pumped to the proposed Collection Sump cum pump house of 3.35 Lakh litres capacity. From the collection sump water will be pumped to 24 proposed group sumps through a pumping main for a length of 70.97 Km. From the group sumps water will be pumped to 142 existing service Reservoirs and 12 newly proposed service Reservoirs through feeder main and branch main proposed for a length of 101.15 Km. From the service reservoirs, water will be distributed through existing distribution network. From this scheme 14174 house service connection (FHTC) will be provided.

Work order for this scheme was issued on 26.02.2021. The scheme is under progress and targeted to complete by july 2023 to put into beneficial.
