PROVIDING CWSS TO SANKARANKOIL, PULIYANKUDI MUNICIPALITIES AND THIRUVENKADAM TOWN PANCHAYAT IN TIRUNELVELI DISTRICT, RAJAPALAYAM, SIVAKASI AND THIRUTHANGAL MUNICIPALITES IN VIRUDHUNAGAR DISTRICT WITH RIVER TAMIRAPARANI AS SOURCE

CWSS to Sankarankoil, Puliyankudi municipalities and Thiruvenkadam Town Panchayat in Tirunelveli- district (nowTenkasi district), Rajapalayam, Sivakasi and Thiruthangal municipalites in Virudhunagar district with river Tamiraparani as source was administratively sanctioned vide G.O.Ms No 6, dated 30.01.2017 for Rs. 543.20 Crores with fund tie up of GOI /GOTN / AMRUT/ ULB Contribution.

The population benefitted in the intermediate (2032) and ultimate(2047) year is 5.18 lakh and 6.21 lakh respectively. The intermediate and ultimate requirement of water is 46.08 MLD and 61.98 MLD respectively. The proposed prorate supply for Municipality and Town panchayat is 135 LPCD and 90 LPCD respectively.

In this scheme surface water from river Tamiraparani is drawn through Intake well cum pump house constructed at Kondanagaram. The raw water is being pumped to the water treatment plant of 46.08 MLD capacity located at Kondanagaram village through pumping main for a length of 3.98 Km. The clear water is collected in the clear water sump of 23.30 LL capacity at water treatment plant. The clear water is being pumped to the intermediate booster station I of 23.20 LL capacity at Manur and then to booster station II of 23.20 LL capacity at Panavadalichatram and then to booster station III of capacity 25.70 LL at Sankarankoil through a total pumping main length of 62.08 Km.

The water collected in the common sumps in the Municipality and Town panchayat is pumped to the newly constructed 22 Nos of service reservoir and 33 Nos. existing service reservoirs through a feeder main for a length of 53.29 Km. The Water is distributed to the beneficiaries from the service reservoir through the newly laid D’system for a length of 548.59 Km and also through existing distribution system through the 1,12,749 nos of house service connection.

The work order for the scheme was issued on 06.11.2017 and now all works were completed and the scheme is put into beneficial use. From At present 38.42 MLD of water is being supplied to the population of 4.62 lakh.
