CWSS to Tittakudi, Pennadam, Mangalampettai, Vadalur, Kurinjipadi and Gangaikondan Town Panchayats and 625 Rural Habitaions in Mangalore, Nallur and Vridhachalam Unions in Cuddalore Districts with NLC mine water as source was administratively sanctioned vide G. O. Ms No. No.47/dated.24.04.2020 for Rs 479.00 Crore with funding pattern under NABARD and MNP.
On implementation of this scheme 31.26 MLD of water to the Intermediate population (2037) of 6.68 lakh and 39.43 MLD of water to the ultimate population (2052) of 7.92 lakh will be supplied .
The source for the scheme is runoff of NLC Mine discharge water. The raw water is to be treated at water treatment plant located at Lower valagamadevi. The treated water is to be collected at 22.00 LL capacity collection sump. From the collection sump, the water is to be pumped through Transmission main of 44.45 Km & feeder main of 134.16 km to the 4 Nos of Booster station located at Pudukoorapettai, Kottadai, Kottaram and Avati. The water from the above booster station is to be pumped to the 29 Nos of group sumps with the feeder main length of 65.93 Km and then to 146 Nos of Panchayat sumps and 6 Nos of common sump through a feeder main for a length of 263.47 km. From 6 Town Panchayts, the water pumped to the OHT from the sump through a branch feeder main length of 61.734 km and distributed to the public through existing distribution system and Public fountains. From the Panchayat sump the water is pumped to OHT through a branch feeder main length of 340.386 km and distributed to the public through existing distribution system and and new distribution system.
The scheme divided in to 4 packages and work order was issued for packages III &IV & on 04.11.2020, packages II on 11.12.2020, and package – I on 25.02.2021 and works are in progress. The Scheme is targeted for completion by 08/2023 and put into beneficial use.
