CWSS to 8 Town Panchayats and 2452 Rural Habitations with bulk provision to 3 municipalities in SIVAGANGAI DISTRICT WITH RIVER CAUVERY AS SOURCE
Combined Water Supply Scheme to 8 Town Panchayats, 2452 Rural Habitations in 11 Unions with bulk provision to 3 Municipalities in Sivagangai District was administratively Sanctioned vide G.O.(D).No.46, dated 07.04.2020 for Rs.1752.73 crore to install and Rs.20.05 Crore to maintain annually under loan assistance from NABARD-NIDA (NAtional Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development-NABARD Infra-structure Development Assistance) and state share under MNP.
The population benefitted at intermediate (2036) and ultimate (2051) stage are 13.56 Lakh & 16.12 Lakh respectively. The water supply requirement for intermediate stage and ultimate stage are 69.52 MLD and 86.42 MLD respectively.
In this scheme the required water is drawn from River Cauvery through five numbers of collector well proposed near 1.Thanneerpalli, 2.Maruthur-1, 3.Maruthur-2, 4.Pettaivaithalai and 5.Kumarapalayam in Kulithalai Taluk of Karur district and pumped to the common collection sump of 43.85 LL capacity at Maruthur. And then pumped to Booster sump at Pathirapatti of capacity 43.85 LL through transmission main for a length of 35.13Km. From Pathiripatti Booster station, the water will be pumped to the ridge point at Thirunellipatti through transmission main for a length of 35.70 Km from where the water will be gravitated to the receiving sump of capacity 146.00 LL at Thenammalpatti through gravity main for a length of 46.32 Km. From Thenammalpatti Sump water will be gravitated to 3 municipalities, 8 Town Panchayats and 11 Panchayat Union Standposts / Sumps through the gravity main for a lengthof 4282.82 Km except Singampuneri Union for which Pumping is proposed to a Standpost of 10.80LL capacity. From the respective standposts / Sumps water will be gravitated/ pumped to Panchayat Sumps. From the Town Panchayat / Panchayat Sumps water will be be pumped to 768 proposed Service Reservoirs of various capacity. From the service reservoirs, water will be distributed to the public through through the existing distribution system and proposed Distribution system for a length of 269.60 Km.
The work was split into four packages and work orders were issued on 1.2.2021 works are under progress. The scheme is targeted to complete by August 2023.
