The scheme for providing combined water supply scheme to 109 rural habitations in Lalgudi and Pullampadi unions of Trichy district was administratively sanctioned for 248.59 Crore vide G.O (Ms) No:42, dated: 04.03.2022 under Jal Jeevan Mission fund with river Coleroon as source.

The project area comprises of 59 rural habitations in Lalgudi and 50 habitations in Pullambadi unions (Total 109 habitations) of Trichy district. The population at intermediate (2037) and ultimate (2052) stage are 1,70,125 & 1,90,301 respectively. Adopting a prorate supply of 55 LPCD with sustainability, the water supply requirement for intermediate stage and ultimate stage are 10.17 MLD and 11.26 MLD respectively.

In this scheme the water will be drawn from 1 no. of collector well in river coleroon near seventhinathapurm (Edayathumangalam) of Lalgudi union of Trichy District. The water from the collector well will be pumped to the proposed Booster Sump at Nagar village and then pumped to 3 Tapping sumps and 43 Group sumps through a pumping main for a length of 203.40 km. From the group sumps water will be pumped to 261 existing service reservoirs and 15 newly proposed service reservoirs through feeder main and branch main for a length of 188.11 km. From the service reservoirs, water will be distributed to the public through functional house hold tap connection by Rural development and panchayat raj department.

Work order for this scheme was issued on 27.10.2022 and work are in progress. The scheme is targeted for completion by March 2024.
