CWSS to 174 rural habitations in Manikandam and Andhanallur unions of Tiruchirappalli district

The scheme for providing CWSS to 174 rural habitations in Manikandam and Andhanallur unions of Tiruchirappalli district was administratively sanctioned for Rs. 124.13 crore vide G.O. No.16 Dated.26.07.2022, under Jal Jeevan Mission. The scheme is designed to supply 9.86 MLD and 11.71 MLD in the intermediate(2038) and ultimate stage (2053) to benefit the population of 1.66 lakh and 1.98 lakh respectively. The per capita supply design is 55 LPCD for rural habitations.

System –I

In this system water is drawn from 4 infiltration well to be constructed in river Cauvery near Thindukarai and collected in the collection well of capacity 2.25 Lakh litres. From the collection sump water will be pumped to Mathur Booster sump. On the way, it feeds the enroute 7 Nos. of (5 Nos.- proposed, 2 Nos. – existing) Group Sumps and Ariyavur Tapping Sump. From the Booster sump, the water will be pumped to 16 group sumps.The total length of pumping main branch pumping main is 87.99 Km. From the group sumps the water will be pumped through feeder main for a length of 161.41 Km to 13 newly proposed service reservoir and 214 existing service reservoir. From the service reservoir, water will be distributed to the public through 26253 Functional house hold tap connection (FHTC) by rural development department through the existing D’system and newly laid D’sytem.

System –II

In this system water is drawn from 2 existing infiltration well and two proposed borewell in river Cauvery near Kadiyakurichi and collected in the existing collection well. From the collection well water will be pumped through pumping main for length of 12.285 Km to vadugaputhur Booster sump and to 8 habitations in Andhanallur union through pmping main for a length of 15.575 Km. From the Vadugaputhur Booster sump, the water will be pumped to 16 group sumps.The total length of pumping main branch pumping main is 87.99 Km. From the Vadugaputhur booster sump water will be pumped to 5 nos of proposed group sumps and 4 nos of existing group sumps. From the group sumps water will be pumped through feeder main for a length of 75.77 Km to 4 proposed service reservoir and 105 existing service reservoir. From the service reservoir, water will be distributed to the public through 16593 Functional house hold tap connection (FHTC) by rural development department through the existing D’system and newly laid D’sytem.

The Work order for this scheme was issued on 28.01.2023. The scheme is targeted to be complete by July 2024 and put into beneficial use of the public.
