The scheme for providing CWSS to 214 habitations in Budalur, Thiruvaiyaru(Part) and Thanjavur(Part) unions and Bulk supply to SASTRA University in Thanjavur District with Coleroon River as source was administratively sanctioned for Rs. 248.67 crore vide G.O. No.16 Dated.26.07.2022, under Jal Jeevan Mission.

The scheme is designed to supply 15.23 MLD and 16.78 MLD in the intermediate(2039) and ultimate stage (2059) to benefit the population of 2.02 lakh and 2.25 lakh respectively.The per capita supply design is 55 LPCD for rural habitations ans bulk provison of 8.00 Lakh litre made for Sastra University.

In this scheme water is drawn from collector well at Thiruchenampoondi Panchayat in Coleroon river and also from infiltration well in Cauvery river in the upstream of Kallanai dam. From the above sources water will be pumped to the proposed tapping sumps at Agarapettai, Kadambankudi, Chitrakudi, with the capacity of 2.05, 2.70 and 4.60LL respectively and existing sump at Nandavanapatty 2.00LL capacity. From the tapping sump water will be pumped to 55Nos. new group sumps and 13 No. of existing Group sumps through a pumping main and branch main for a length of 190.715Km. From the group sumps water will be pumped to 305 existing service Reservoirs and 23 newly proposed service Reservoirs through feeder main and branch main for a length of 255.91 Km. From the service reservoirs, water will be distributed through existing distribution network. From this scheme 17075 house service connection (FHTC) will be provided.

The Work order for this scheme was issued on 28.01.2023. The scheme is targeted to be complete by August 2024 and put into beneficial use of the public.
