The Scheme for providing combined water supply scheme to 252 habitations in Papanasam and Ammapettai unions of Thanjavur District was administratively sanctioned for Rs. 288.02 crore vide GO. (Ms). No.141 Dt.11.10.2022 under Jal Jeevan Mission fund with river Coleroon as source.

The population at intermediate(2039), and ultimate(2054) stages are 2,41,890 and 2,78,007 respectively. Adopting a pro rata supply of 55 lpcd for rural habitations, water supply requirement for intermediate stage and ultimate stage are 13.10 MLD 15.20 MLD respectively.

In this scheme the water is to be drawn from collector well proposed to be constructed in river Coleroon near pudukudi village in sarukkai panchayat. From the Collector well, water will be pumped to 68 proposed group sumps through a pumping main and branch main of 204.32 Km. From the group sumps water will be pumped to 497 existing service Reservoirs and 38 newly proposed service Reservoirs through feeder main proposed for a length of 344.62 Km. From the service reservoirs, water will be distributed through existing distribution network. From this scheme 18,444 house service connection (FHTC) will be provided.

Work order for this scheme was issued on 10.4.2023 and the works are under progress. The scheme is target for completion by August 2024.
