CWSIS to 88 habitations in Kottampatti and Melur unions in Madurai District by augmenting the source of existing Melur CWSS with river Cauvery as source

CWSIS to 88 habitations in Madurai District with river Cauvery as source was administratively sanctioned for Rs.127.18 Crore vide G.O(Ms) No:4D MAWS (W.S.I) department /dated: 26.07.2022 under Jal Jeevan Mission programme

Under this scheme it is proposed to provide drinking water to 88 habitations in Madurai District (47 Rural habitations in Melur Union and 41 Rural habitations in Kottampatti union).

The scheme is designed to supply 4.97 MLD(2037) and 6.46 MLD (2052) in the intermediate and ultimate stage to benefit the population of 1.63 Lakh and 1.78 Lakh respectively with a Prorate supply of 55 LPCD.

It is proposed to construct 4 Nos of Infiltration wells in River Cauvery nearby the existing Melur CWSS Collection well and collected in the existing 36.55 LL capacity common sump. From there it is pumped to the existing Kottaiyur sump through the existing 1100mm dia MS Transmission line. This water is supplied to 21 Nos of Rural sumps from 55 Nos of existing and 29 Nos of proposed Service Reservoirs through 154.84 Km Gravity main, pumping and branch pumping mains.

Similarly for Melur Union, this water will be collected in Pulipatty and Melur Gandhi park sumps and will be pumped to 26 group sumps and 108 nos of existing Service Reservoirs and 12 Nos of proposed Service Reservoirs through 168.84 Km Gravity, Pumping and Branch Pumping mains. 30,009 House connections will be provided through this scheme

The Work order for this scheme was issued on 24.03.2023 and targeted for completion by 09/2024
