CWSS to 867 rural habitations in Alanganallur, Chellampatti, Kallikudi, Thirumangalam, Thirupparankundram, Usilampatti, and Vadipatti Unions in Madurai District and 2.00 mld for sipcot complex, nilakottai in dindigul district with vaigaidam as source
CWSS to 867 Rural Habitations in Alanganallur, Chellampatti, Kallikudi, Thirumangalam, Thirupparankundram, Usilampatti, and Vadipatti Unions in Madurai District with Vaigaidam as source was administratively sanctioned for Rs.1536.31 Crore vide G.O.No.142 MA & WS (WS.1) Dept., dated 11.10.2022 with the funding pattern under Jal Jeevan Mission
The scheme is proposed for the supply of water to 7 Unions namely Usilampatti (150), Thirumangalam (155), Kallikudi (77) Chellampatti (229), Alanganallur (116), Vadipatti (68) and Thirupparankundram (72) totally 867 habitations in Madurai district and 2.00 MLD for SIPCOT Complex, Nilakottai in Dindigul District.
The scheme is designed to supply 44.60 MLD (2039) and 60.00 MLD (2054) in the intermediate and ultimate stage to benefit the population of 8.76 Lakh and 10.93 Lakh respectively and 2.00MLD of water to SIPCOT Nilakottai. The per capital supply adopted is 55 LPCD for rural habitations.
The pick-up weir on the downstream side of Vaigai Dam near Andipatti in Theni district has been selected as source. One intake well will be provided near the left bank of the Vaigai River in between the Madurai Corporation, intake well and that of Vadugapatti CWSS and about 60.00 MLD surface water proposed to be drawn will be pumped to the WTP site at Gullapuram fixed near the WTP of Vadugapatti CWSS at about 3.6 km. The treated water (58 MLD) will be distributed to 7 Unions namely Usilampatti, Thirumangalam, Kallikudi, Chellampatti, Alanganallur, Vadipatti and Thirupparankundram and 2.0 MLD of Water to SIPCOT, Nilakottai.
After treatment the treated water will be collected in the Clear water Sump capacity of 25.00 LL and will be pumped to 25.00 LL capacity of Master Balancing Reservoir. The proposed pumping main and gravity main length is 195.13 km. From the 25.00 LL MBR the water will be gravitated to 10 Sumps, 17 Master Balanced Reservoirs and 114 Zonal Balance Reservoirs to the total length of 1689 km. From the ZBRs the water will be gravitated to 310 existing service reservoirs and 1135 newly proposed service reservoirs. From the service reservoirs water will be distributed through existing and newly proposed distribution system. It is proposed to provide 116717 Nos of FHTC from this scheme.
