PROVIDING CWSS TO 2 MUNICIPALITIES, 5 TOWN PANCHAYATS AND 2306 RURAL HABITATIONS IN 11 UNIONS IN RAMANATHAPURAM DISTRICT, ODDANCHATRAM MUNICIPALITY, KEERANUR AND NEIKKARAPATTY TOWN PANCHAYAT AND 1422 RURAL HABITATION IN 7 UNIONS IN DINDIGULDISTRICT WITH RIVER CAUVERY AS SOURCE UNDER JJM PROGRAMME.

The scheme for providing combined water supply scheme benefiting Ramanathapuram and Keezhakarai Municipalities, 5 town panchayats and 2306 rural habitations in Ramanathapuram district and Oddanchatram municipality, Keeranur and Neikkarapatty town panchayats and 1422 rural habitations in Dindigul district with river Cauvery as Source was accordedadministrative approval vide theG.O No. 176 / Municipal Administration and Drinking Water Supply Department / dated 14.12.2022 and G.O No.52 / Municipal Administration and Drinking Water Department / dated 02.05.2023 for Rs. 4187.84 crores. The scheme is to be implemented under Jal Jeevan Mission and Amrut funds.

In total there are 3 Municipalities, 7 Town Panchayats and 3728 rural habitations are going to be benefitted from this new MVS with Oddanchatram municipality, Keeranur and Neikkarapatty Town Panchayats and 1422 rural habitations are the beneficiaries in Dindigul District and 2 Municipalities,5 Town Panchayats and 2306 rural habitations in Ramanathapuram District.

The Designed intermediate population of this project (2039) is 23.93 Lakhs and requirement is 103.62 MLD. The Designed ultimate population of this project (2054) is 25.11 Lakhs and requirement is 135 MLD. The per capita supply adopted for rural area is 55 LPCD for Town Panchayat is 90 LPCD and for Municipality will be 135 LPCD.

In this project, an intake well is proposed to be constructed in the Cauvery river at Nanjaipugalur in Karur district. The raw water will be treated in a 135 MLD water treatment plant which is to be constructed at Aravakurichi in Karur district located at a distance of 50.8 km. The treated water will be pumped to Ramanathapuram and Dindigul Districts via two separate systems.

I. Drinking Water Scheme for Ramanathapuram District (System 1)

In System-1 of this scheme, it is proposed to supply 67.75 MLD of water to the intermediate year (2039) population of 15.77 lakhs and 91.31 MLD of water to the Ultimate year (2054) population of 18.62 lakhs.

From Aravakurichi water treatment plant, water will be pumped to the 32.90 LL GLSR at Kurunikulathupatti through 34.85 km pumping main and then water will be pumped to 37.90 LL GLSR at Sevanthampatti through 61.50 km pumping main. From here water will be gravitated through 42.87 km of pipelines to Master Balancing Reservoir at Ramanathapuram. The water from Ganapathipuram MBR will be gravitated to 98 proposed ZBRs and from 98 ZBRs water will be gravitated to the proposed 804 OHTs and existing 1708 OHTs through 3728.12 km of pipe line.

The potable water will be supplied to the beneficiaries from the overhead tanks through existing and proposed distribution pipelines. 2,44,810 new FHTCs are to be provided through this scheme.

II. Drinking Water Scheme for Oddanchatram Municipality. Keeranur, Neikkarapatty Town Panchayats and 506 rural habitationsin Dindigul District (System 2)

In system-2 of this scheme it is proposed to supply 35.87 MLD of water to the intermediate year (2039) population of 5.76 lakhs and 43.69 MLD of water to the Ultimate year (2054) population of 6.48 lakhs.

The treated water required for Oddanchatram Municipality, 2 Town Panchayats and 506 rural habitations is proposed to be pumped through pumping main for a length of 101 km. Further, around 1028 KM of pipelines are proposed to be laid to cater the treated water to the beneficiaries. The treated water will be pumped to the proposed 172 OHTs and existing 589 OHTs. The potable water will be supplied to the beneficiaries from the overhead tanks through existing and proposed distribution pipelines. 35,191 new FHTCs are to be provided through this scheme.

III. Drinking Water Scheme forReddiyachatram, Vadamadurai, Vedasandur and Dindigul unionsDindigul District (System 3)

In system-3 of this scheme it is proposed to supply 19.48 MLD of water to the intermediate year (2039) population of 4.60 lakhs and 23.38 MLD of water to the Ultimate year (2054) population of 5.31 lakhs.

The habitations proposed to be benefitted under System-2 of this scheme are also getting water supply from the existing Natham CWSS and Vedasandur CWSS. It is proposed to delink the quantity from the aforesaid CWSS’ and utilize the delinked quantity to supply 55 LPCD of water for 916 rural habitations in Reddiyachatram, Vadamadurai, Vedasandur and Dindigul unions of Dindigul District.It is proposed to construct 57 new sumps in Reddiyachatram, Vadamadurai, Vedasandur and Dindigul unions. Pipelines for a total length of 1147 km are proposed to be laid to supply water to the beneficiaries. The water will be pumped to the proposed 503 OHTs and existing 525 OHTs. The potable water will be supplied to the beneficiaries from the overhead tanks through existing and proposed distribution pipelines. 40,133 new FHTCs are to be provided through this scheme.

This scheme has been splitted into 6 packages and work order was issued for packages 2,3,4,5 and 6 on 31.03.2023 and for package 1 on 08.04.2023. It is proposed to complete all the works by 10/2024.
