Pudukkotai District Profile
- Pudukkottai district is bounded by Thanjavur district in the East, Thiruchirappali in the North and west, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram Districts in the South and Bay of Bengal in the south east.
- The District lies between 9º51’00” to 10º44'40”N Latitude, 78º25'30”E to 79º16'15”E Longitude and has an areal extent of 4651 sq.km.
Physiography and Drainage:
- Pudukottai district has an undulating topography with a gentle slope towards East-North East along the coast.
- There are no major hill ranges in this district, except some detached patches of residual hills at Thirumayam, Kudimiyanmalai, Sithannavasal, Viralimalai and Narthamalai.
- There is no perennial river however Agniar,Vellar,Koraiyar,Gundar, etc are some of the seasonal rivers that drain the district.
- The rivers Vellar and pambar flow in a N.W.S.E direction. Apart from these rivers there are approximately 5451 shallow inter connected tanks which are mainly rainfed.

Sustainability:
